Allan Conybeare Member profile Captain : Allan Conybeare
Simba has taken on the Captaincy role for 2007 and looks sent to give the Hawks one of their most succesful season's to date. A Michael Vaughan lookalike - he even seems to get the same injuries - he is a talented stroke maker who will be looking to get amongst the runs during 2007. Also turns his arm with his left arm deliveries and has picked up a reputation as a partnership breaker.
Paul Hart Member profile Vice Captain : Paul Hart
Survived as the usual choice of opening bowler from the Sudbury Road end thus far but attempts to rise up the batting order have yet to see any real success. Having spent most of the winter repairing & refurbishing the pavillion he wonders if he still has the energy for the Summer campaign?
Paul has taken on the vice-captaincy of the side in partnership with Gautam for 2007 and will be looking to use the skills he picked up last year to good use as he looks to take the most wickets next season.

Players

Daren Asher Member profile - no photo available Daren Asher
Hard working batsman who favours the leg-side just a bit more than the offiside. Work commitments mean that Daren's appearances have been stricktly limited over the past few seasons.
Kevin Chapman Member profile Kevin Chapman
Chappy has been a regular in the side now since moving down from Lincolnshire six seasons ago. The occasional whiff of onions puts off opposition batsmen to such a degree that he can always be relied upon to keep one end tight. Injury prone (who else would fall down a rat hole in France and put himself out for three weeks!) he specialises at gully or backward point while bats in the middle order with varying degrees of success. His ambition is to be a test pilot for Airfix. A back problem forced Chappie to miss most of the 2006 season but one of the most talented players at The Chantry
Niall Fitzgerald Member profile Niall Fitzgerald
2006 was just one of the seasons for Niall. Went past the edge on so many occasions we lost count and picked up far less wickets than he deserved. It was a similar story when batting with inside edges on to his stumps his most likely manor of dismissal. On his day though, Niall is a fiery fast bowler who hits a long ball when he needs to.
Chamath Jayasooriya Member profile - no photo available Chamath Jayasooriya
Young left arm bowler who will be looking to make an impact in the side this season following the departure of Prince to Berkshire. Has the ability to swing the ball and has a nagging length which confuses batsme
Nihal Jayasooriya Member profile Nihal Jayasooriya
Nihul will yet again be disappointed that he hasn't turned all his good starts in to big starts. However, the more he gets used to the wickets at Horkesley the more likely he will start converting. Has to take on added responsiblity with Sarat's departure. A good fielder with a safe pair of hands, he can also bowl wicket-to-wicket medium pacers.
Sarat Jetty thukaram b Member profile Sarat Jetty thukaram b
After four seasons with the club, Sarat has unfortunately moved away to pastures new (boo!). The good news is though that he'll still be making occasional visits to The Chantry to play (hooray). A devastating opening batsman, and fine wicket-keeper, he will be disappointed that his bowling has not been up to the same high standards. Rarely dropped a catch in the outfield either.
Graeson Laitt Member profile Graeson Laitt
Suave, sophisticated, privately educated single gentleman - oops, sorry, that's the other website! After six years as captain of Gt Horkesley, Graeson has gone back to be just one of the boys again, but can be relied on to impart his words of wisdom as and when necessary. His pace has dropped - though he can still open the bowling if required- he relies more on his experience than speed plus the ability to move the bowl prodigiously of the seam. Can't bat for toffee though with 2006 the first season for a long time that he failed to get into double figures.
Edward Long-Price Member profile - no photo available Edward Long-Price
The Hawk's jewel in the crown this refined former tax dodger has had his best season for the side culminating in him being the best English batsmen in the PDQ League with an average of 98.5. He also holds the record for the highest recent score - 162* against Maldon at Drapers Farm. Excellent fielder, occasional spin bowler, and sometimes takes his place behind the stumps as well.

Anthony Pembroke Member profile Anthony Pembroke
Anthony's batting prowess is legendary. Once he gets going, there is no stopping him. Unfortunately, that tends to be after about twenty overs by which time his middle stump has usually gone cartwheeling over the wicketkeeper.

Mohammed Ramali Member profile - no photo available Mohammed Ramali
Sri Lankan Doctor who marked his Horkesley debut by pulling a hamstring within the first few overs of the game at West Bergholt. Returned to the side at the end of the season to bowl a couple of very useful spells and will be looking to get more bowling under his belt in the months to come.
Steve Riddleston Member profile Steve Riddleston
The longest serving player at the club having joined in 1988 Steve is a player who needs his confidence massaged on a regular basis. When he's good as a bowler, he is almost unplayable with great variations on line and length. Technically, the best looking batsmen at the club but sadly that tends to be back in the Pavillion as he forgets to put bat to ball! Also now a proud Dad of Twin Girls Caitlin and Shara! This makes his availability very limited. what will the team do without those duck contributions??

Kevin Saunders Member profile Kevin Saunders
A legend in his own teatime. Kevin likes to regal the club of stories of yore about Villa, Cricket, and buses. Sadly, coming from Birmingham, no one can actually understand a word that comes out of his mouth, and thus rely on the the translation services offered by his three year old daughter, who makes just about as much sense. A good fielder who gets in the way of the ball, he can be guaranteed to seek out the use of the first aid kit at least once a game.
Shafi Sayed Member profile - no photo available Shafi Sayed
Joined the club last season, and is a welcome addition to the fast bowling department. A whippy action sees the ball come at you quicker than expected, he is also a very good fielder as well as being handy with the bat. Will prove to be a very useful middle order batsman.
Rishi Sharath Member profile - no photo available Rishi Sharath
Moved to Berkshire at the end of last season, Prince has nearly all the attributes needed to make a decent cricketer. Good hands, a develish leg-spinner, he also scores runs for fun in his age-groups. Has handled playing adult cricket just as easily though occasionaly lets his mind wander away to other things!
Ed Sheen Member profile - no photo available Ed Sheen
Sadly, his move to London has seen this hard-hitting opening batsman unfortunately become unavailable to us. However, if he does return there would be a place for him as he is also a superb fielder as well.
Will Thomas Member profile - no photo available Will Thomas
An occasional guest player for the club, Will has proved to be top class on all his appearances for the Hawks. A talented batsman, he also keeps wicket when requried.
Srikanth Thotapalli Member profile Srikanth Thotapalli
Like Nihul, Srikanth must be frustrated at his failure to turn 20s and 30s into big scores. His top scored of 73 is nowhere near as good as it should be for a player who, once he gets in, is as fluent as any other member of the club.
Simon Underwood Member profile - no photo available Simon Underwood
Former Army man who lends an air of calmness to proceedings with his quiet authoritative manor. Started to prove his worth with the bat last season after we finally managed to persude him to bat higher up the order.
David Walker Member profile David Walker
Ashes follower David is also the club's grounsdman and a lot of thanks go to him for his hardwork over the past year or so. Sadly, family illness has left his participation in games to a low number but hopefully we'll see the former opener back to his best in 2007
Richard Walker Member profile - no photo available Richard Walker
It's been a long time since we've seen Richard at the ground due to a serious illness that he suffered early in 2006. We understand that he's beginning to get better and though playing might just be beyond him at the moment, we hope to see him supporting the club at The Chantry sooner, rather than later.
James Wallis Member profile James Wallis
One of the few Horkesley villagers left in the side, James has always impressed with either his keeping wicket or his no nonsense batting. Sadly, family illness restricted his appearances last season.
