Great Horkesley Cricket Club team

Second Eleven
David Walker Member profile

Captain : David Walker

Ashes follower David is also the club's grounsdman and a lot of thanks go to him for his hardwork over the past year or so. Sadly, family illness has left his participation in games to a low number but hopefully we'll see the former opener back to his best in 2007
Players
Mahesh Arcot Member profile - no photo available Mahesh Arcot
Leg spinner who has found time limited recently following his first child. Another of the club's medical team his performance against Wormingford at The Chantry last season (6-25) was one of the best ever from a Horkesley player.
Julian Durrant Member profile - no photo available Julian Durrant
One of the true Horkesley veterans remaining, and probably the club's longest serving member. A bad back injury has meant that JD hasn't seen much action in recent seasons but he remains in 4th place in the all-time bowling list. He'd be higher if we had the scorebooks pre-1992 when Durrant was at his best.
Tom Howes Member profile Tom Howes
New signing for the club from Colchester & East Essex which will cushion the blow of losing a player to them. Tom has bowled quickly in the nets and looks a technically correct batsmen as well. However, he'll be looking to make an impression when the seasons starts in April. I understand he can also keep wicket and may get asked to do that job depending on the teams needs.
Sridhar Konda Member profile - no photo available Sridhar Konda
Konda recently achieve national fame on ITV's Best British Dish finishing as National Finalist with his Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani. We're still waiting for him to feed the team at a tea interval though!
Emlyn Kuhn Member profile - no photo available Emlyn Kuhn
Guest who played in one game in 2008
David Laitt Member profile David Laitt
One of the veteran's of the side, Dave Laitt has returned to become Chairman of the club for 2004. A former professional football, Dave is the father of skipper Graeson, though that doesn't stop the occasional scowl when he drops another catch from his favourite son.
Has been known to open the batting on occasions with his "swing-from-the-hip" style, and can be relied upon to bowl an occasional over - occasional being the key word.
Graeson Laitt Member profile Graeson Laitt
Suave, sophisticated, privately educated single gentleman - oops, sorry, that's the other website! After six years as captain of Gt Horkesley, Graeson has gone back to be just one of the boys again, but can be relied on to impart his words of wisdom as and when necessary. His pace has dropped - though he can still open the bowling if required- he relies more on his experience than speed plus the ability to move the bowl prodigiously of the seam. Can't bat for toffee though with 2006 the first season for a long time that he failed to get into double figures.
Adam Lowing Member profile - no photo available Adam Lowing
Adam is a former member of the club who got in touch last season looking to play a couple of games during the season. For various reasons, he was unable to get in a game, but I'm hopefully we might see Adam back at The Chantry during 2009

Vish Mula Member profile - no photo available Vish Mula
Just as Vish was starting to get to grips with his batting, he moved to Chelmsford to take up a new post at the hospital. Keen as mustard, hopefully Vish will be able to play or two games for the club this season.

Steve Riddleston Member profile Steve Riddleston
The longest serving player at the club having joined in 1988 Steve is a player who needs his confidence massaged on a regular basis. When he's good as a bowler, he is almost unplayable with great variations on line and length. Technically, the best looking batsmen at the club but sadly that tends to be back in the Pavillion as he forgets to put bat to ball! Also now a proud Dad of Twin Girls Caitlin and Shara! This makes his availability very limited. what will the team do without those duck contributions?? A good fielder, we hope he'll back to don the whites on a few occasions this season.

Kevin Saunders Member profile Kevin Saunders
A legend in his own teatime. Kevin likes to regal the club of stories of yore about Villa, Cricket, and buses. Sadly, coming from Birmingham, no one can actually understand a word that comes out of his mouth, and thus rely on the the translation services offered by his youngest daughter aged just a few months, who makes just about as much sense. A good fielder who gets in the way of the ball, he can be guaranteed to seek out the use of the first aid kit at least once a game.
Rishi Sharath Member profile - no photo available Rishi Sharath
Moved to Berkshire at the end of last season, Prince has nearly all the attributes needed to make a decent cricketer. Good hands, a develish leg-spinner, he also scores runs for fun in his age-groups. Has handled playing adult cricket just as easily though occasionaly lets his mind wander away to other things!
Ed Sheen Member profile Ed Sheen
A hard-hitting opening batsman who loves to get involved in the fielding as well.
Will Thomas Member profile - no photo available Will Thomas
An occasional guest player for the club, Will has proved to be top class on all his appearances for the Hawks. A talented batsman, he also keeps wicket when requried.
